Board of Directors Candidates
The five individuals listed below are running for three (3) Board of Directors positions each being three years.

Don Hutchins
I am running for the current open WMLAR Board of Directors position to add my work, volunteer, and life experience, to an already great Board of Directors. With my time on the WMLAR Government Affairs Committee and currently its Co-Chair, I have been able to positively interact with Federal, State, and local leadership and share the NAR and MR positions on Property Rights and other key real estate issues and concerns.
My wife Molly, a native Michigander, and I celebrated our 40th anniversary this year. We have 2 adult native Michigander children and a very handsome, smart grandson. I am on the Board of the Muskegon Rotary Club, currently the Secretary. Our motto is “Service above Self”.
My other avenues of service include Albion, MI City Councilman; Board of Education; Planning Commission; Church
Board leader; Port Authority Chair; Chamber of Commerce President; volunteer at several beach and neighborhood clean ups; multiple Feeding America food trucks though Rotary and Boys Scouts; and Seaway Run volunteer. I graduated from Waukesha Technical College AAS and Spring Arbor University BA.
Thank you for your consideration to elect me to the WMLAR Board of Directors.

Mallorie Kragt
Hey! I am Mallorie Kragt and I have actively participated in WMLAR for over 5 years. I am an associate broker at Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt. My husband Adam and I live in Holland with our 2 wonderful daughters, Delaynee and Alexandria. In addition to residential real estate sales, we own AMK Rentals & Property Management, a local property management company for both long term and vacation rentals.
I am proud to have served as the Chair of the REALTORS® Who Care Committee this year. I have also been a member of the RWC Committee and the Social Committees for the past 4 years. I believe that the work that WMLAR does is important for both its members and the surrounding communities. I am a strong advocate for WMLAR’s members, and I am committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed in their careers and in their personal lives.
I am honored to have been nominated to serve on the WMLAR Board of Directors and I appreciate your consideration.

Kristen Oegema
My name is Kristen Oegema and Real Estate is our Family Business! I’m a mom of two littles, a wife, an avid reader, and a Disney enthusiast.
I am running for a seat on WMLAR’s Board of Directors. I have had the privilege of holding the title REALTOR® for the past 9 years. I believe in Volunteerism, Constant Learning and Relationships! I believe that Real Estate is bigger than a transaction. This mindset is what drives me to learn from others, attend WMLAR General Membership Meetings, Michigan REALTORS® Conventions, NAR’s Mid-Year Legislative Meetings and NAR’s Annual Conferences.
I have had the privilege of serving on the Grievance committee for the past three years. Ethics and Professional Standards are the backbone of our Business and why we Raise our Right Hand to take the oath of becoming a REALTOR®. We need to take this more seriously and not overlook our REALTOR® OATH when writing our offers,
reviewing our offers, and educating our clients on what they are signing. Now more than ever WE NEED TO SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS the VALUE of what REALTORS® offer our CLIENTS and our COMMUNITIES. I believe that the best way to grow is to learn from others, volunteer in areas that are sometimes out of comfort zones & try new things. Having the opportunity to serve you as a WMLAR Director would be my honor!

Lucas Smith
As a REALTOR® and member of West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS® (WMLAR) for 12 years, I have experienced the value that a great association can bring to our profession and my personal career. I am honored to be nominated for a position on the Board of Directors and I believe that I can be an asset to this impactful organization. It is my nature to be a “helper”, thus it is no coincidence that I have forged a career in serving others and as well as a servant leader, working closely with others to build strong relationships.
Throughout my professional and personal life, I have experienced extreme joy in developing organizations, whether it be as an Executive Director for a 501c3 where I recruited and led a Board of Directors, launched a Real Estate brokerage, and served as a founding member and volunteer of the Big Red Classic Fishing Tournament. These are just a few of the experiences that have shaped my passion while working with others to support organizational effectiveness. Underpinning everything I do, personally and professionally, are the following traits: A strong work ethic, integrity, accountability, and enthusiasm.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve the membership of WMLAR and staff.

Robert Way
I’ve been in Real Estate since 2016 and am currently the managing broker for Verge Realty in Spring Lake. Prior to joining Verge Realty, I was licensed with Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt, where I was also the Productivity Director for 1.5 yrs, managing the educational needs of Michigan CB agents. I also assist WMLAR with facilitating courses for CE and New Member Orientation.
I currently serve as a committee member for our association’s Government Affairs committee and Community Advocacy and Impact committee. I chose to get involved with these committees because I think it is vital to protect personal property rights and our roles in helping clients through the real estate process. I also believe strongly in giving back to our communities through service, donations or any means we are able. I feel lucky to call this my profession and honored that it allows me to follow my passions as well.
I currently live in Saugatuck with my husband, son, and 3 dogs.
Thank you!
