Advertising Listings

WMLAR has been receiving numerous complaints regarding the common practice of teams or salespersons creating their own business names such as “My Name Homes” or “My Name Sells Michigan” on social media that do not include their employing brokerage company name when advertising listed property. As a reminder, advertising of listings MUST be under the broker name and phone number or street address as is required of [MCL – Section 339.2512e: Advertisement]

“Any advertising displayed or published on or after January 1, 2018, that includes the name of an associate broker, a salesperson, or a cooperating group of associate brokers or salespersons employed by the same real estate broker, shall include all of the following:

(a) The telephone number or street address of the employing broker.

(b) The business name of the employing broker, in equal or greater type size than the name of the associate broker, salesperson, or cooperating group.”

WMLAR MLS policy also requires the listing Broker name or company be included in the post when sharing listings even if you’re using FlexMLS’s permalink.
