While our New Member Orientation is designed for new and transferring members, we want to remind existing REALTOR® members, brokerage staff/assistants, and Affiliate members that you’re welcome to join in too — via Zoom. It’s a great way to refresh your knowledge of the association and earn up to nine continuing education credits — for free — every six weeks or so.

In-person participation is required for new and transferring members, while existing members will join via Zoom only due to limited in-class seating.

How Many Credits Can You Earn?

Attendees who complete the full two-day program can earn up to 9 hours of continuing education, including:

  • 2 hours NAR-approved Fair Housing credit
  • 2 hours Legal credit
  • 5 hours Elective credit

Flexible attendance options are available:

  • Option A: Attend the full two-day program (9 hours of credit)
  • Option B: Register for the Fair Housing session only (2 hours, NAR compliant)
  • Option C: Register for the Legal session only (2 hours, legal credit)

Not sure what credits you need?

Every single year of your individual licensing period, you must, at a minimum, complete 2 hours of legal credit and as of 2023, 1 hour of fair housing.

Again, these bare minimums are per your individual licensing year. At some point before your expiration date, you’ll need to take 9+ more elective credits. Note: Extra legal and fair housing credits CAN count as electives, but electives CANNOT be counted as legal/fair housing.

In the example to the right, we’re using a license renewal date of March 26, 2028 and going backwards to show what you need.

As of Code of Ethics cycle 8 (Jan. 1, 2025 – Dec. 31, 2028), all REALTORS must complete the required Code of Ethics AND two hours of NAR specific fair housing. Taking a NAR approved fair housing class will only count for one year’s worth of Michigan requirement. WMLAR will be offering a hybrid COE/FH training day in October, 2025. Stay tuned!

WMLAR cannot see what credits you have or have not taken. Your official record is with the CE Marketplace.

CE Marketplace is your OFFICIAL RECORD of continued education credits. It’s free and easy to sign up! Click on the logo above to go to their site.
