Help Save a Life: WMLAR Life Jacket Drive
Each summer, thousands of families visit the beaches, rivers, and lakes along the West Michigan shoreline. Making sure children have access to proper water safety equipment can save lives.
That’s why WMLAR’s Community Outreach Committee (formerly Community, Advocacy and Impact Committee), in partnership with REALTORS Who Care (WMLAR’s 501c3), hosts an annual Life Jacket Drive to supply NEW U.S. Coast Guard approved, VEST STYLE life jackets to public safety kiosks along the lakeshore. ALL SIZES ARE WELCOME!
These life jackets are placed at county and state parks throughout Allegan County, Muskegon County, and Ottawa County, where families can borrow them for the day and return them for others to use.
Thanks to the generosity of WMLAR members and the community:
- 2025: $6,737 raised, allowing the purchase of 450 life jackets
- 2024: 550 life jackets were collected
- 2023: 750 life jackets were collected
- 2022: 500 life jackets were collected
- 2021: 480 life jackets were collected
