Median Home Prices continue to post gains in three Lakeshore counties
WEST MICHIGAN, Mich. — West Michigan’s Lakeshore saw rising median housing prices, while at the same time Allegan, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties saw an overall increase in the number of homes on the market, data from the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS®.
Closed May residential sales were 455, down 15% from May 2025. Meanwhile, the median sales price across the three counties rose to $253,000, an annual increase of 3.1%.
There were 866 active listings in the three-county area at the end of May, up just a tenth of a percentage point from the previous year. Ottawa County was the only county which recorded a decrease in the number of listings, with a 12% decline versus previous-year numbers.
The data is drawn from WMLAR’s Multiple Listing Service, the region’s most comprehensive database of properties listed for sale. The data is contributed by WMLAR’s more than 1,200 REALTOR® members primarily based in Allegan, Muskegon, and Ottawa counties.
Total dollar sales volume reached $190 million for the association’s primary three-county service area, down 9.3% from a year ago. Homes also spent more time on the market, with the three-county average days on market rising 20% to 30 days.
“The housing market shows continued signs of strength,” said WMLAR CEO Jon Broadbooks. “A modest increase in available homes in the market will help provide consumers with more choices, although there’s clearly still robust competition for existing inventory.”
