Real Estate Prelicensing offered by WMLAR
Are you ready to take the first step toward an exciting career in real estate? The West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS® (WMLAR) is a state-approved real estate school, offering a 40-hour prelicensing course—your essential starting point to becoming a licensed real estate salesperson in Michigan.
Why Choose WMLAR?
Our course is designed to fully prepare you for the state exam administered through the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (DLARA) and PSI Exams. Once you pass, you’ll be eligible to practice real estate across Michigan—not just in Grand Haven where we’re located!
For 2024, we have two remaining sessions: October 21-25 and December 9-13, running from 9 AM to 5 PM daily.
- Cost: $275, which includes course materials and additional resources tailored to fit various learning styles.
- Refunds: Full refunds are available before materials are sent. Afterward, refund requests incur a $50 processing fee.
- Zoom Requirements: If attending remotely, you must remain on camera and have a working microphone throughout the course.
Exam Costs: DLARA Application fee ($88), State Exam fee ($79).
Course Flexibility: In-Person or Remote
At WMLAR, we understand the importance of flexibility. That’s why we offer our courses in a hybrid format. You can attend in-person at our Grand Haven headquarters or join from the comfort of your home via Zoom. Whether you prefer a traditional classroom or learning in your pajamas, the choice is yours!
What You’ll Learn
Our curriculum covers the essentials, including civil rights topics and math concepts crucial for passing the exam. You’ll also complete a mid-term and final exam to gauge your understanding of the material. We recommend bringing a calculator and highlighters to enhance your learning experience.

Andrea Booker, an approved instructor by DLARA, leads our courses using a curriculum developed by Gwyn Besner of The Acme Institute. Andrea’s hands-on approach and dedication make the learning process both engaging and thorough, helping students feel prepared for their exam and future real estate careers.
