Luxury market gains summer momentum as dollar volume
and sales climb across Lakeshore

WEST MICHIGAN, Mich. — Luxury home total dollar volume and active listings highlighted a strong second quarter for the West Michigan luxury housing market, according to data compiled by the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of REALTORS® (WMLAR).

At the same time, closed and pending sales increased on an annual basis in both Allegan and Ottawa counties, while Muskegon County experienced declines in each category.

WMLAR compiles sales data submitted to its Multiple Listing Service by more than 1,200 REALTOR® members. It’s the most comprehensive property database for the area, representing most residential real estate transactions.

Among the highlights for the second quarter of 2026:

  • Closed sales: 57 (up 19% vs. Q2 2025)
  • Median sales price: $1.2 million (down 18% vs. Q2 2025)
  • Total dollar volume: $90.6 million (up 19% vs. Q2 2025)
  • Active Listings as of June 2026: 138 (up 17% vs. June 2025)
  • Pending sales: 75 (up 25% vs. Q2 2025)

“Increased sales volumes point to continued strong interest in luxury living in West Michigan,” said WMLAR CEO Jon Broadbooks. “Upper-market buyers are finding more options from which to choose, and in some cases may find themselves facing strong competition for properties.”
