NEXT LEVEL Replay: MSHDA homeownership programs every REALTOR® should know
WMLAR members recently joined Nancy Baker from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) for an informative Next Level Success Webinar highlighting the financing tools and resources available to help more Michigan families achieve homeownership.
Nancy provided an overview of MSHDA’s homeownership programs, including the MI Home Loan, MI 10K Down Payment Assistance Loan, Mortgage Credit Certificates (MCCs), and the statewide Housing Education Program. She also covered buyer eligibility, financing options, eligible property types, and how REALTORS® can use these programs to help clients overcome one of the biggest barriers to homeownership—cash needed to close.
The impact of these programs is significant. During 2025 alone, MSHDA helped 6,193 Michigan families achieve homeownership, assisted 5,373 homebuyers through the MI 10K Down Payment Assistance program, and issued $24.5 million in Mortgage Credit Certificates.
Even more telling, MSHDA shared that 72% of borrowers said they would not have been able to purchase a home without one of its loan programs, and nearly half of all referrals come directly from real estate professionals.
