Update on Mobile Home Classification for RESO Certification
To our valued MichRIC members and partners,
In our continued efforts to meet RESO certification standards and enhance data clarity across our system, we want to inform you of an important update regarding the classification of Mobile Homes within our MLS.
Following valuable feedback from our members, we have reassessed the previously proposed approach to handling Mobile Homes and are making a final adjustment to our plan.
What’s Changing?
- No New Property Sub-Type: We will not be adding a separate Property Sub-Type for “Mobile Home.”
- Removal of “Mobile” Architectural Style: The Architectural Style option labeled “Mobile” will be removed from the system.
- Updated Manufactured Details Field: Mobile Homes will now be represented under the Manufactured Details field. The existing enumeration of “Pre-June 1976” will be renamed to “Mobile/Pre-June 1976” to more accurately describe these property types.
Why This Change?
This adjustment is intended to avoid confusion between Mobile Homes and Manufactured Homes. Since Mobile Homes are considered a subset of Manufactured Homes, housing them under a unified category supports better consistency and aligns with industry standards. The terminology “Mobile” is often synonymous with “Pre-June 1976,” making this consolidation both logical and efficient.
What This Means for You
As originally planned, we will proceed with updating:
- Data share mappings
- Historical listings
- Saved searches
- Subscriptions
These updates will ensure that searches and saved preferences continue to function seamlessly after this transition.
