Deadline for REALTOR associations, MLSs passes; WMLAR has signed onto agreement
WMLAR is among many REALTOR associations and MLSs which have signed onto a settlement agreement which provides legal protections from an anti-trust lawsuit.
The association signed the agreement under direction from the WMLAR Board of Directors, which means that the association and its MLS are covered under the umbrella agreement negotiated by NAR which releases the association from liability. The terms include removal of an offer of compensation field in the MLS.
WMLAR signed the settlement agreement, which does not include any admission of wrongdoing.
The NAR settlement requires, among other things, that buyers enter into written agreements with a REALTOR before touring a home.
The agreement had to be signed this week, with the date for full implementation set for Aug. 17, 2024.
